Bimatoprost is a synthetic chemical compound having the same properties as that of prostaglandin which is a naturally occurring chemical in body. It is used to treat high pressure inside the eye including glaucoma which is an eye disease. The medication helps to protect any damage to the optic nerve and improves the vision. Bimatoprost can also be used in cosmetics to treat small or underdeveloped eyelashes to make the eyelashes longer, thicker, and darker. This liquid medication increases the outflow of aqueous fluid from the eye and lowers intra-ocular pressure. It is advised to use this drug under proper supervision of doctors as it may lead to side effects like red eyes, dry eyes, change in color of the eyes, blurry vision, and cataracts.
